The allure of the secrets and intrigue in Pretty Little Liars has captivated fans since it debuted in 2010. Over the course of seven seasons, viewers eagerly followed the lives of the Liars as they navigated the aftermath of their friend Alison's disappearance and the emergence of the menacing figure known only as "A," who threatened to expose their deepest secrets.
Spencer Hastings, the brainiac (played by Troian Bellisario), Emily Fields, the athlete (played by Shay Mitchell), Hanna Marin, the shy girl turned popular teen (played by Ashley Benson), and Aria Montgomery, the artsy one (played by Lucy Hale), joined forces for seven seasons to uncover the identity of "A" and their connection to Alison's disappearance. The Sara Shepard book series adaptation saw the teens facing off against murderers and blackmailers while also dealing with the challenges of high school life in the fictional town of Rosewood.
After the series ended in 2017, the professional lives of many of its stars have continued to thrive. For instance, following the cancellation of Life Sentence, Hale secured the lead role of Katy Keene in the CW series of the same name in 2019. Alongside their career achievements, several cast members have also embarked on new personal journeys since their time on the Freeform show. Pieterse, Bellisario, Combs, who portrayed Aria's mother, and Parrish, who played the role of Mona Vanderwaal, have all tied the knot.
Bellisario and Mitchell, two of the four Liars, have expanded their families since their time on PLL. Bellisario quietly gave birth to her second child in 2021, while Mitchell welcomed her second child, daughter Rome, with partner Matte Babel in June 2022. Pieterse expressed her excitement for Mitchell's journey into motherhood, noting how she had previously been uncertain about having children but had become such a great mom.
“She has always been an independent, strong, and confident woman, and I believe she will bring those qualities to her role as a mother. Her love for her child is evident, and it is truly special,” the actress said of her pregnant friend, whom she met on set. The bonds formed during filming have lasted beyond the four main characters, as evidenced by their matching tattoos.
Ian Harding, known for his portrayal of Erza Fitz, collaborated with Mitchell and appeared in several videos on her YouTube channel. One of their notable videos was a pregnancy mukbang where they experimented with unconventional food pairings in September 2019.
