Beyonce's Dancers Les Twins Reveal Heartwarming Bond with Kids in Arts Education Program

Les Twins, the renowned dancers Larry and Laurent Bourgeois, share their heartwarming experience working with Kids Write Network since 2022 In an exclusive interview, they reveal the overwhelming emotions they encounter while being a part of this remarkable arts education program for children

Larry and Laurent Bourgeois, also known as Les Twins, are not only touring with Beyoncé around the world but also using their passion for dance to make a difference.

The French dancers, aged 34, collaborated last year with Kids Write Network, a youth program focused on boosting self-confidence and enhancing mental health through art, music, and dance. As part of their RISE for Mental Health Tour, they have conducted workshops in schools all over Canada. Their tour will make its debut in the United States this October at the Pace Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Laurent, the founder of KWN, Helen Georgaklis, "recruited" him and his brother to join her organization after witnessing their performance. "She was captivated by the way we interacted with strangers," the choreographer shared exclusively with We. "She appreciated the educational aspect of our work, which went beyond just dancing."

Fans of Beyoncé are likely familiar with Les Twins, who have been featured in her videos and tours since 2011. However, their journey in dancing extends far beyond that. According to them, dancing is not something they learned, but rather something they were born with.

Laurent describes it as a purely emotional experience. He compares it to babies who communicate without words, using their bodies to express their emotions such as anger, happiness, excitement, and hunger. For Les Twins, dancing is a constant language that they express 24/7.

The brothers aim to use their dance workshops as a platform for children to discover and express themselves through art, even if they do not have the same natural inclination towards dance as Les Twins. They have witnessed numerous instances where students have emerged from their shells and become more confident after attending one of their classes.

Georgaklis acknowledged that the Bourgeois twins possess a remarkable ability to identify the children in the crowd who require personalized attention from a compassionate adult.

“They select individuals from the audience without any prior knowledge of their background,” she disclosed to Us. "We've received messages from teachers expressing their immense gratitude, as they have witnessed a remarkable transformation in their students. These students, who were on the verge of ending their own lives just a week ago, have now discovered a newfound sense of liberation within their own bodies. They were once trapped, but now they realize that they can break free from those constraints."

Once the Renaissance Tour concludes in September, Les Twins will have little time off before embarking on a journey with KWN, where they will bring their unique dance techniques to schools throughout North America. When asked about their affinity for working with children, Laurent offered a straightforward response.

“Because they’re my future,” he explained. “Kids, they love you or they don’t. You have to deal with this love, and it’s raw, and I’m really about that. It’s beautiful.”
