Bella Hadid continues to showcase her status as the reigning queen of the Y2K trend.
On December 17th, the 27-year-old model was seen in New York City sporting a matching gray knit set with a distinct 2000s-style silhouette. The top had a tunic-style with a high neck and buttons around the collar, extending past her waist. She paired it with matching gray knit pants. This look, popular in the early 2000s, has resurfaced after more than a decade. Celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan were known for proudly donning this style on and off the red carpet.
Hadid completed her outfit on Sunday with black leather boots, a shoulder bag, and dark sunglasses. She also added a black leather motorcycle jacket to her cozy knit set at one point. Her long hair was left down, straightened, and parted in the middle, and she wore minimal makeup. While walking through the streets of New York, she took a moment to stop by a store and try on a pair of sunglasses.

This is not the first occasion where Hadid has fully embraced the Y2K trend. Frequently, the model is seen integrating at least one aspect from that era into her ensembles. Whether it's low-rise pants, bucket hats, or velour tracksuits, Hadid's remarkable assortment of early 2000s clothing consistently grabs attention.
Although Hadid lends a special edge to the Y2K trend, there are plenty of other celebrities who have put their own spin on the tunic-over-pants look.

For instance, let's consider Katie Holmes. The former Dawson’s Creek star stirred up a fashion debate when she showed up at the 2022 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in December wearing a comparable silhouette. At the event, the 45-year-old Holmes sported a strapless navy top paired with straight leg jeans and black sneakers.

Fashion enthusiasts voiced their disagreement with the outfit to the extent that Holmes' stylist, Brie Welch, stepped in to defend the actress. Welch told The New York Times in the same month, "[Holmes] is more than capable of looking stylish in an unintentional trend 20 years later."
As for Hadid and her style? “I’m dead-on. I know what I like,” she told Vogue in 2022. “I always have, since I was young. And I’ve never drifted.”
