Baldur's Gate 3 Update 3: Unleash a Stunning Transformation! New Looks, Enhanced Performance

Baldur's Gate 3 Update 3 brings a massive patch, packed with exciting highlights! Experience improved combat, enhanced performance, stunning art, smoother gameplay, intuitive UI, immersive level design, captivating writing, enhanced audio, and breathtaking cinematics Get ready for an epic gaming experience!

The latest update for Baldur's Gate 3, Patch 3, has just been released, and it is quite impressive. This patch introduces two major features: full Mac support and the ability to alter your character's appearance using a magical mirror.

Utilizing the magic mirror, which can be found at your camp, you can modify your character's physical features, voice, preferred pronouns, and even their genitals. However, it's important to note that certain aspects such as your race/subtype and body type cannot be changed. Furthermore, any cosmetic alterations resulting from character choices, like unique eye replacements, will be permanent. It is worth mentioning that the magic mirror cannot be used to alter Origin characters, hired companions, or characters that have undergone transformation.

Performance, particularly in the troublesome Act 3, now showcases enhanced stability on both PC and PS5. In particular, the Lower City and crowded areas have experienced notable improvements. Additional fixes related to performance are still in the works. On the PS5, the quality mode now achieves its intended frames-per-second targets more consistently. Moreover, it appears that the issue causing the game to crash when connected to the internet on the PS5 has been resolved, as per our observations, although this improvement is not explicitly mentioned in the patch notes.

Furthermore, there are upcoming updates that will introduce new features and changes to the epilogue. You can find the key points from the patch notes below, and for the full details (including spoilers), please refer to the Baldur's Gate 3 website.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 3 Notes

HIGHLIGHTS

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now fully supported on Mac!

A Magic Mirror that lets you change your appearance is now available at camp!

Combat

Cazador is currently unable to transform into or sustain his Mist Form when exposed to magical sunlight, such as the one generated by the Daylight spell.

Fixed Ansur's Stormheart Nova has the ability to penetrate the ice shields you seek refuge behind.

Grym's intelligence inexplicably heightened, causing him to skillfully evade the Crucible within the Adamantine Forge. With a slightly anxious chuckle, we intentionally diminished his intellect to a more manageable level.

Improved to Level 4 or higher, Divine Smite now enables the addition of Divine Smite as a reaction, thereby enabling the execution of two Divine Smites within a single attack.

Revised:

- Addressed the issue of Divine Smite damage exceeding the limit of 5d8.

- Enhanced the behavior of the Poltergeist enemy: when attacked or hit by Radiant Spirit Guardians, it will now become visible; remaining within a character's See Invisibility aura will prevent it from turning Invisible again; while in Balanced and Explorer Mode, it will have disadvantage on Dexterity Saving Throws when Invisible; the range of its attacks has been decreased; and it will no longer attempt to maintain distance from the player during combat, making it easier to locate.

Fixed the Sneak Attack damage bonus not increasing to 6d6 at Level 11.

Fixed a case where multiple Smokepowder Arrows could be used for free while the Extra Attack feature was active.

PS5

The colours on the PS5 controller will now match elemental damage types more closely.

Performance

Improved performance in the Lower City. More to come!

Art

Made dye colours more intense and more visible on some armours. This will only affect newly dyed items.

Dragonborn characters can now select any of the barbarian piercings.

Fixed Shadowheart going blonde when equipping a hat.

Improved the reflection in the Spectator's eye in the Underdark.

Flow and Scripting

Resolved the issue of face tattoos disappearing when zooming out.

Fixed a bug where companions would temporarily leave the party, such as being sent to prison, causing them to lose their knowledge of past partnerships and exhibit abnormal behavior by acting cold towards the player.

Fixed a bug that previously allowed trading with Cazador while he was pleading for mercy.

Enhanced the Astarion romance progression by disabling irrelevant camp situations if you had agreed to spend a night with him before heading to camp.

Fixed some dialogue options only showing up once when talking to Withers.

Fixed a blocker where if you knock Orin's Slayer form into the chasm, you can't get her Netherstone.

Resolved an issue that was causing Dammon to engage in combat and perish at Last Light, thereby impeding the advancement of Karlach's narrative.

Included a new journal entry to reflect the departure of the tieflings from the Emerald Grove. In addition, the completion of the Forging of the Heart quest will now be contingent upon Dammon's continued presence in the region.

Fixed the game thinking you're dating Gale instead of Karlach in one of the dialogues with Karlach.

You now need higher approval for Shadowheart to confess her Shar worship to you.

- Myshka the cat will now obediently trail behind you upon command, even without possessing Speak with Animals.

- Halsin, Jaheira, and Minthara are not interested in participating in Volo's icepick lobotomy and will no longer be allowed to do so.

Improved Version:

The issue of being unable to remove Vanra from the hag by interacting with her unconscious body after destroying all her mushrooms has been fixed.

Lae'zel will no longer accompany you (whether deceased or alive) after you assassinate her by slitting her throat during her nighttime ambush.

Improved:

The bug that permitted users to easily retrieve the Orphic Hammer from the supposed Impervious Sphere in the House of Hope while another party member engaged in an interactive conversation with the sphere has been resolved.

The flow issue in Shadowheart's concluding romance dialogue has been fixed, ensuring that Karlach will appear alone in Avernus if Shadowheart expresses her intention to meet her there at a later time.

Please ensure that Karlach's journal correctly states that you arrived at the Rosymorn Monastery Trail instead of the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

Make sure that Wyll acknowledges Karlach approaching him for the first time with more consistency.

Fixed an issue that caused the Shadowheart swimming scene to not play for some players.

The Narrator no longer thinks you're a mind flayer when you're not.

Fixed companions talking about killing Gortash after meeting Orin even if the former is already dead.

Fixed issues with Astarion discussing topics that are no longer relevant.

The interaction between Nere and Minthara in the 'Travel to Moonrise Towers' quest has been reworked. Instead of sending you to Minthara after saving Nere, he now has his own lyre. If you saved him from the cave-in, he will gift it to you. This newly acquired lyre can be used to call for the drider through the Shadow-Cursed Lands, similar to Minthara's lyre. Both lyres now have updated descriptions. Furthermore, Nere no longer mentions Minthara in his Speak with Dead.

To gain a safe passage to Moonrise, inquire with Minthara if you have information on it. In return, she will request a raid on the Emerald Grove. To gather more details, consult Nere about Minthara and then approach Minthara to inquire about Nere. The journals for 'Travel to Moonrise Towers' and 'Follow the Convoy' have been appropriately updated.

Clearing the cave-in before killing the duergar eliminates the danger zone associated with saving Nere.

While on your date with Karlach, Tender Henk will no longer walk away, only to unveil another Tender Henk standing behind him, giving a rather unnerving stare.

Gameplay

The Sanctuary condition will no longer be unaffected by the following spells: Call Lightning, Evard's Black Tentacles, Polymorph, Hunger of Hadar, Fear, Ice Storm, Flesh to Stone, Divine Intervention, Hypnotic Pattern, Slow, Stinking Cloud, Banishment, and Glyph of Warding.

Level Up functionality has been enhanced to automatically queue all characters eligible for leveling up, eliminating the need to click on each character individually.

Fixed some corpses never showing the '(empty)' tag after you loot them.

Fixed not being able to use some reactions while in disguise.

Cazador's staff, Woe, now correctly unlocks the Blight spell when equipped.

Fixed several magic items and Volo's Ersatz Eye losing their power after you are killed and revived.

Fixed the Spell Sniper feat not working on attack spells.

The Spell Sniper feat will now correctly reduce the Critical Hit threshold by 1.

Fixed the Idol of Silvanus buff disappearing after Long Rest.

NPCs will no longer run away from anything but the Dark Urge Slayer form to improve interactivity and flow.

Mummies raised through Create Undead can now Jump to follow you around better.

The Everburn Blade now correctly sets explosive surfaces and explosive objects alight when hit.

The Misty Escape feat will no longer break concentration.

Reading shop signs will no longer be considered a crime.

The Cutting Words reaction is now set to Ask by default.

Summoned zombies and skeletons will no longer be able to pick up loot and disappear with it when dismissed.

The Azer summon's Overheat ability is now available on its hotbar when summoned.

The Nimblefinger Gloves now correctly apply their Dexterity bonus to gnomes, halflings, and dwarves.

Fixed an Animate Dead exploit allowing you to summon 2 skeletons from the same corpse.

Optimised how the game handles object selection on controller.

UI

The issue of Sovereign Spaw having the ability to resurrect hirelings with Animating Spores has been addressed and resolved. Changes have been implemented so that Sovereign Spaw no longer uses this ability on player characters.

UI

Your chosen trade mode (trade or barter) will now be saved to your player profile.

Revamped the Default Online Settings to include an automatic listening feature when a fellow party member engages in multiplayer dialogues.

Enhanced the Examine window to provide clear distinctions between Resistance, Vulnerability, and Immunity for better comprehension.

Writing

Introduced an additional dialogue option during the initial face-to-face encounter with the Dream Visitor to provide more alternatives instead of just two hostile choices.

Fixed Wyll's horns clipping into Karlach's face during an Act II romance scene.

Fixed missing music on the Wyll path of Karlach's endgame scene in Avernus.

Placed a beautiful purple picnic blanket in a romantic setting with Gale while also correcting a camera rotation for those who prefer spending time with him on a bed.

Improved cameras, adjusted facial expressions, and refined head directions to align more effectively with the desired tone in conversations involving Shadowheart.

Resolved various glitches and camera problems that occurred while initiating a romantic relationship with Lae'zel. This includes addressing an issue where Lae'zel's body would abruptly float away and then return during dialogue.
