Author Megan Miranda Chooses Callum Turner for Lead Role in 'Daughter of Mine' Film Adaptation

Author Megan Miranda expressed her interest in seeing her latest novel, Daughter of Mine, adapted into a movie or TV series. She specifically mentioned that she would love for actor Callum Turner to star in the adaptation.

Miranda shared her thoughts on casting characters while writing the book. She explained that she usually focuses on developing unique characters on the page and doesn't think about casting during the writing process. However, she is open to considering it after the book is completed.

The author shared that she often watches TV shows or movies and finds an actor who embodies one of her characters. She mentioned, "I'll think, 'Oh, I could totally see that person inhabiting these characteristics.'" Miranda added that for her, it's more about seeing if the actor can portray a variety of personas rather than focusing on their appearance.

Hazel Sharp is the main character in Daughter of Mine. She comes back to her hometown of Mirror Lake after her father, the town's sheriff, passes away. Hazel inherits the family home, which surprises her since her brothers were not chosen. As she settles in, Hazel uncovers mysteries that may finally provide her with the answers she has been seeking.

The author considered actresses like Florence Pugh or Daisy Edgar-Jones for the role of Hazel. We suggested Sophie Turner as well.

Miranda had a clear vision for the character of Gage, the older brother and newly-promoted detective in Mirror Lake. We agreed with her choice.

I recently watched Masters of the Air and thought of Turner as a perfect fit for the role of Gage," she excitedly shared. She then suggested a great casting choice for the character of the younger brother, Caden.

Miranda felt that Jacob Elordi had a similar vibe to her character, while Us recommended considering Chase Stokes or Barry Keoghan for the role.

Miranda has not had any of her novels adapted yet, but she is eager for it to happen. Her top pick for adaptation is Daughter of Mine.
