Nigerian international Ashleigh Plumptre has officially joined Al Ittihad Ladies, a soccer team based in Saudi Arabia. The announcement was made by both the club and the 25-year-old center-back via their respective social media platforms on Wednesday morning.
Plumptre, who previously represented England U23, has transitioned into a senior Nigeria international, accumulating 15 caps. In the Women's World Cup this summer, she played against the Lionesses and unfortunately suffered a loss in the last 16 match, determined by penalties.
After her contract with her hometown club, Leicester, expired on July 13, she arrives at Al Ittihad as a free agent.

My personal growth journey extends beyond the realm of football." Plumptre had dedicated three years to Leicester, contributing to the team's historic achievement of winning promotion to the Women's Super League in the 2020/21 season.

These teams are controlled by the Public Investment Fund, who also happen to be the owners of Newcastle.
