Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed on his podcast, "Arnold's Pump Club," that he recently had a pacemaker implanted. This comes after having three open heart surgeries in the past. During the episode on Monday, March 25, the 76-year-old actor shared the news and humorously compared himself to his Terminator character by mentioning he now has a "machine part."
Last Monday, I underwent surgery to get a pacemaker to help my heart function better. It's a big step for me," he shared with his audience. It's quite different for me to talk about my health openly, as in Austria, it's not common to discuss medical issues.
In my upbringing, health matters were kept private. However, I have received numerous messages and emails from individuals with a similar heart condition like mine, known as bicuspid aortic valve. They have shared that hearing about my experiences with valve replacement surgeries has given them strength and optimism to face their own challenges.
He expressed his thoughts, "I understand that being open and transparent instead of secretive can benefit others, so why wouldn't I choose that?" The actor, who recently appeared on stage at the Oscars with his Twins costar Danny DeVito, reassured his fans that he is recovering quickly.

He expressed gratitude to his medical team for their excellent care during the surgery. Schwarzenegger appreciated their efforts in making the surgery as painless as possible. Despite the surgery, he mentioned that nobody would have guessed he had undergone one at the beginning of the week. His doctors recommended a pacemaker due to irregular heartbeat caused by scar tissue from a previous surgery.
It’s been a busy year for the action star. In January, he got into some trouble at Munich International Airport. He was caught trying to take a watch through customs that wasn’t registered, as reported by TMZ. The actor was photographed with a customs agent holding what looked like a watch box.
According to a statement from an airport customs spokesperson to NBC News, legal proceedings were started against him. However, more information about the investigation was not shared because of Germany’s privacy laws.
According to multiple reports, Schwarzenegger cooperated with the investigation and withdrew cash for the prepay taxes on the watch.
