Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged a previous feud with fellow action star Sylvester Stallone during his appearance on the "Graham Norton Show." The former governor of California, now in his seventies, revealed that they began as fierce "movie rivals" but ultimately developed into close and supportive "fantastic friends."
On the show, the "Terminator" star revealed that we were fierce competitors in the movie industry. Our rivalry pushed us to the limit. We strived for the most impressive physique, the highest body count in our films, and the largest arsenal of weapons.
"It spiraled out of control, leading to a relentless competition between us," he reflected.
"But then, when we both decided to invest in Planet Hollywood, we began jetting across the globe together to promote it, forging an extraordinary friendship."
Stallone and Schwarzenegger rose to prominence in Hollywood during the 1970s. Schwarzenegger made his debut in 1970 with "Hercules in New York," while Stallone achieved success in the critically acclaimed "Rocky" in 1976, which won an Oscar.
Aside from their collaboration in Planet Hollywood, these two action stars later appeared together in films such as "Escape Plan" in 2013 and the "Expendables" franchise.
This year, both Schwarzenegger and Stallone are also the subject of Netflix documentaries, with "Arnold" having come out in June and "Sly" due to premiere next month.
