Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon introduces an unprecedented feature that sets it apart from other FromSoftware games: a photo mode. This eagerly anticipated addition to the Armored Core franchise, which hasn't seen any new releases since 2013, promises an exhilarating experience.
Starting back in 1997, Armored Core, along with King's Field, stands as one of FromSoftware's original franchises. Although Armored Core 6 will utilize the same engine as Elden Ring, it will offer a distinct departure by emphasizing mecha construction and combat, moving away from the familiar Soulslike action.
PlayStation Japan recently announced that Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon will feature a Photo Mode, enabling players to capture in-game screenshots from various perspectives while hiding the user interface. The showcased video demonstrates the functionality of Photo Mode, allowing gamers to adjust screen brightness, apply filters, and more.
In addition to Photo Mode, Armored Core 6 appears to offer the ability to pause the game at any point during gameplay. While this may be common in most games, FromSoftware's previous titles, such as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, did not provide this option. The exception was Sekiro, possibly because it solely focused on a single-player experience.
In addition to Photo Mode and pausing functionality, there are other important updates regarding the highly anticipated Armored Core 6. FromSoftware has provided crucial information regarding the game's frame rate. The developer has stated that the game aims to achieve a smooth 60 frames per second on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, for older generation consoles, the frame rate will be limited to 30 frames per second to ensure a stable performance. Conversely, PC gamers will have the advantage of accessing the game in stunning 4K resolution and a high frame rate of 120 frames per second, making it the optimal platform for experiencing Armored Core 6, assuming the player's computer meets the necessary specifications.
Mark your calendars for August 25, 2023, as Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
