Archer Season 14 Cast Reveal Which Iconic Catchphrases They'll Miss After The Show Ends

The End of an Era

With The Agency's days at an end for now, the Archer cast reflects on which iconic catchphrases they'll miss. Created by Adam Reed, the animated spy comedy ran for 14 acclaimed seasons on FX and FXX, revolving around the adventures of the titular spy and his friends and co-workers at an independent spy organization. After initially being canceled with season 14, the show was given a three-part series finale event entitled 'Into the Cold', which brought the show to a close in December 2023, just over 14 years after its premiere.

During interviews with Screen Rant for the finale, the Archer cast was asked which of their iconic catchphrases they'll miss getting to read. While Chris Parnell pointed towards missing the overall experience of making the show, particularly the relationships between its core characters, H. Jon Benjamin and Amber Nash shared their characters' more memorable quotes, 'phrasing' and 'sploosh' as ones they'll miss, with the former even humorously revealing having brought some of the show's catchphrases and gags to his own life.

Memorable Catchphrases

In addition to delivering unique character dynamics and hysterical adventures, part of the reason Archer became a cultural touchpoint was for its various catchphrases across its 14-season run. Alongside 'phrasing' referenced by Benjamin above, the titular spy was behind a number of iconic quotes and running gags, namely 'danger zone', being obsessed with the Kenny Loggins song from Top Gun and frequently looking to emulate the movie's testosterone-driven vibes. Archer is also consistently the only person in the office to be concerned about ants, frequently shouting at his coworkers for doing things that bring the insect infestations.

Outside of Sterling, the other Archer characters have had a number of their own unique catchphrases and quotes that made them all the more memorable. Lucky Yates' Dr. Krieger was often seen lamenting the destruction of devices in early seasons of the show, reacting in the same vein as Charlton Heston's George in the original Planet of the Apes' ending slamming his fist on the ground and shouting 'you maniacs!'. He was also well-known for his references to becoming aroused by certain situations to a dangerous degree, and quickly spouting 'yep' in repetition in order to avoid confrontations.

Character Dynamics and Hilarious Quotes

The late Jessica Walter also often infused Malory Archer with a variety of hilarious quotes during her time on Archer, most notably that of 'shut up', always delivering it with a dry wit, sometimes even in multiplicity within the same sentence. With Aisha Tyler's Lana also frequently shutting down requests with a punctuated 'newp' and Judy Greer's Cheryl refusing to listen to authority by shouting 'you're not my supervisor!', even to her boss, Malory, the stars and writing team found a wide range of ways to make these characters memorable.
