Who Are Archer's Returning Characters?
Archer's returning character, Katya Kazanova, is a former KGB agent who develops feelings for the series' protagonist, Sterling Archer. Eventually, she defects to the International Secret Intelligence Service. Despite sacrificing herself to protect Archer, she is resurrected as a cyborg. Towards the end of her storyline, Katya is enlisted to manipulate Archer by seducing him and interfering with his relationship with Lana. However, Archer resists the temptation, stating that his bond with Lana holds immense importance, especially now that they share a child.
Slater, portrayed by actor Christian Slater, is a fictionalized version of himself in the show. Initially introduced as a CIA agent posing as an arms dealer, he later becomes the liaison between the CIA and the International Secret Intelligence Service. In the recent season 13 of Archer, Slater assists the team in their mission to take down Fabian Kingsworth.
In what was supposed to be Archer's final episode, the United Nations declares private spy agencies illegal. The Agency is left with the choice to either shut down or face consequences from the federal government. Despite their attempts to prove their value to the UN, they are unsuccessful. The upcoming three-part finale will provide closure to this storyline, now featuring familiar characters.
