Aquaman 2, titled "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," is set to release later this year. Despite its imminent arrival, there has been a remarkable lack of discussion surrounding the highly anticipated DCEU film.
Aquaman 2 currently lacks any promotional material, most likely because of ongoing changes in the DCEU. The new director, James Gunn, is making room for a fresh DC franchise by cutting several projects loose. Here is everything we know about the status of Aquaman 2.
Aquaman 2 release date: When is it coming out?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 22, 2023.

Production for the film commenced in early June 2021, with filming in London beginning in July 2021, led by Jason Momoa. The filming process concluded in January 2022, but underwent three subsequent rounds of reshoots.

Aquaman 2 plot: What happens in the sequel?
Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed the official synopsis of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
After failing to defeat Aquaman in their previous encounter, a determined Black Manta is driven by the desire to avenge his father's death. With relentless determination, he will go to any lengths to finally bring Aquaman down. This time, Black Manta is even more powerful, wielding the legendary Black Trident which possesses an ancient and malevolent force.
In order to triumph over this formidable adversary, Aquaman must seek the help of his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis. Despite their differences, the two must forge an unlikely alliance to protect their kingdom, save Aquaman's family, and prevent irreversible destruction from befalling the world.
Director James Wan stated in an interview with EW that Amber Heard's character, Mera, will have a lesser role in The Lost Kingdom compared to the first film. However, Wan clarifies that he had always envisioned the second movie to focus more on the bond between Orm and Aquaman, rather than on Mera, and her reduced role is not a result of her recent lawsuit.
