The Evolution of the DCEU
The sequel to 2018's Aquaman wasn't originally intended to close out the DCEU, but that's how it turned out. After many attempts to right the ship, Warner Bros. Discovery brought in James Gunn and Peter Safran to lead their new film division, DC Studios. In January, Gunn and Safran announced a relaunch of the DCEU as the new DC Universe, which will kick off on the big screen with Gunn's Superman: Legacy in 2025.

While the prospect of a more unified DCU is exciting, Gunn and Safran's announcement left the remaining DCEU movies - Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - in a peculiar place. Aquaman franchise director James Wan confirmed that the new direction for the DCU led to changes in Aquaman 2, which was the case for The Flash as well.

Given the state of the DCEU/DCU, it might be unclear whether Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has post-credits scenes, so we set the record straight.

Aquaman 2 Post-Credits Scene
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has only one credits scene, which arrives at the mid-credits point, after the stylized credits have ended, but before the scroll begins. There isn't anything at the very end of the Aquaman 2 credits, neither an additional scene nor an audio tag. There also isn't any text screen akin to Marvel Studios' that states a character will return.

The Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom credits scene doesn't serve any future setup. Instead, it continues a joke from the movie and offers a final punchline before the credits scroll. As such, the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom credits scene isn't worth waiting for except for completionists.

The Future of Aquaman in the DC Universe
It's possible that Wan's post-credits scene plans were one part of the movie that had to be changed for the DCU relaunch. Early reports during production of the sequel indicated Ben Affleck's Batman would appear in the movie in some capacity, but that changed after The Flash erased Batfleck from the DCEU. Then Michael Keaton, whose Bruce Wayne was going to appear in The Flash's ending, was going to be in Aquaman 2, but that changed as well. It's unclear if Batman would've been in the Aquaman 2 credits scene, but it's a possibility.
Arthur Curry as the King of Atlantis in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
For now, all that's known is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom only has one credits scene, and it isn't necessary viewing for those that want to know what's coming. As a result, the Aquaman sequel officially closes out the DCEU. Though Jason Momoa isn't confident in Aquaman's DCU future, there's still a possibility the actor could get a new role in the relaunched franchise. If that's the case, then Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may be the end of Momoa's tenure as Aquaman - and it concludes on a joke in the credits scene.
