It would be a wonderful gift for us in 2024 to witness beloved couples like The Bear's Sydney and Carmy and Sweet Magnolias' Ty and Annie finally coming together on screen.
Since its debut in 2022, The Bear has sparked debates among viewers and fans about the possibility of a romantic relationship between Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Carmy (Jeremy Allen White).
The duo formed a deep bond during their collaboration on launching a restaurant in the initial two seasons. Despite facing challenges, such as Carmy's short-lived romance with Claire (Molly Gordon), their interactions displayed undeniable chemistry that went beyond mere friendship.
Nevertheless, not everyone supports the idea of Sydney and Carmy reconsidering their relationship in a romantic light. Edebiri and White have openly expressed their preference for Sydney and Carmy to maintain a strictly platonic friendship.
“They have experienced a lot of emotional distress on both sides. It seems unlikely that would be addressed, but if it were, there would need to be significant individual therapy for both of them over two seasons before they could consider a relationship.
Meanwhile, Sweet Magnolias’ Ty (Carson Rowland) and Annie (Anneliese Judge) have been a favorite pairing with fans since the Netflix hit premiered in 2020. The timing in their lifelong friendship has always been off — Annie fell for Ty before he was ready, and Ty developed feelings for Annie while she was dating someone else. Rowland believes this is what makes the potential couple so captivating.
"I believe their strategy is to gradually build excitement by turning up the heat," Rowland revealed exclusively to Us in July before the premiere of season 3, where Ty and Annie secretly held hands in the finale.

"I appreciate the way the season subtly hints at their relationship coming to a close," he commented. "The season ends with a huge cliffhanger that will definitely leave people wanting more. What happens next? Will they end up together? Or will they not? It's all up in the air."

TV Couples We Need Together in 2024: From The Bear’s Syd and Carmy to Sweet Magnolias’ Ty and Annie
In 2024, one of the best things for us would be seeing beloved couples like The Bear’s Sydney and Carmy and Sweet Magnolias’ Ty and Annie finally coming together on screen.
Since its debut in 2022, The Bear has left fans divided on whether the show should delve into the romantic potential between Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Carmy (Jeremy Allen White).
During the first two seasons, the duo formed a powerful bond as they collaborated to launch a restaurant. Despite facing challenges, such as Carmy's short-lived romance with Claire (Molly Gordon), their interactions at work revealed a chemistry that went beyond just being friends. However, not everyone is supportive of Sydney and Carmy considering a romantic relationship. Edebiri and White have expressed their desire for the two characters to maintain a strictly platonic friendship.
Edebiri shared in an exclusive interview with We in January that both sides have experienced a lot of trauma. "Like if that were even explored, I don't think that window is open," she said. "But if it were, there would need to be, like, two seasons where it's just them doing therapy individually before that would even be an option."
Meanwhile, Ty and Annie from Sweet Magnolias have been a beloved pairing since the Netflix hit premiered in 2020. As lifelong friends, their timing has always been off — Annie fell for Ty before he was ready, and Ty developed feelings for Annie while she was dating someone else — but Rowland believes that's exactly what makes the potential couple so captivating.
In July, Rowland exclusively told Us that he believes they are gradually turning on the excitement by slowly starting the furnace. He loves how the season ends with a subtle hint towards Ty and Annie's relationship, leaving a massive cliffhanger for the next season. Rowland thinks this will leave people wanting more, curious about what will happen next with them.

Sydney and Carmy (‘The Bear’)
The claim that there is a scarcity of platonic relationships between men and women on television may apply to some fictional pairs – but not Carmy and Sydney. Dedicate an entire scene to Carmy having a panic attack that only subsided after thinking about Sydney doesn't seem very friendly to us.

Annie and Ty (‘Sweet Magnolias’)
Teenage friends Jim, Pam, Annie, and Ty have always struggled to get their timing right when it comes to romance. Just when it seemed like they might never end up together, Annie and Ty closed out season 3 with a secret handhold, suggesting that their long-awaited romance might finally be in the cards, especially with the show now being renewed for a fourth season on Netflix.

Conrad and Belly (‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’)
Enthusiasts of The Summer I Turned Pretty book series, penned by show creator Jenny Han, are eagerly anticipating the resumption of filming for the third season. Season 3, which is based on the series’ final novel, We’ll Always Have Summer, is expected to set the stage for Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Belly (Lola Tung) to reignite their romance at a crucial juncture in both of their lives.

Brady and Brie (‘Virgin River’)
The breakup of a beloved couple is always a painful experience for fans. It becomes even more difficult when they see their exes moving on to new relationships. However, there is still hope for a rekindled romance between Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) and Brie (Zibby Allen). In the holiday episodes of Virgin River season 5, the two characters engage in a mature conversation about their relationship, with hints of lingering feelings between them. Fans are eagerly anticipating a possible reconciliation, especially after witnessing lingering glances, a nearly-shared kiss under mistletoe, and suspicions about Brady's new girlfriend. The possibility of a renewed romance in season 6 has fans holding out hope.

Tyler and Wednesday (‘Wednesday’)
Despite being a central part of the love story in season 1 of Netflix’s Wednesday, Tyler (Hunter Doohan) concealed his true identity, prompting a need for a fresh start. While there have been critics, including Jenna Ortega herself, who argue that Wednesday Addams does not require a romantic relationship, it is difficult to overlook the potential for enemies-to-lovers dynamic that could emerge as Wednesday and Tyler resolve their unresolved issues.

Marcus and Ginny (‘Ginny and Georgia’)
Certainly, Marcus (Felix Mallard) and Ginny (Antonia Gentry) may benefit from some time apart, but it's impossible not to cheer for this pair of misunderstood soulmates. Their connection was electric from the beginning, and now that Marcus' twin, Max (who happens to be Ginny's best friend), is supportive of their relationship, there may be a chance for the exes to reunite in season 3 or 4 of the popular Netflix series.

Colin and Penelope (‘Bridgerton’)
Colin (Luke Newton) has a challenging journey ahead of him to show that he deserves Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). However, Bridgerton fans have learned from the first two seasons that the effort is always worth it in the end.

Steve and Nancy (‘Stranger Things’)
Is the flame of romance being reignited? Despite many fans believing that the love story between Steve (Joe Keery) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) had come to an end, season 4 hinted at a potential revival of their connection amidst the chaos of the Upside Down. Steve admitted that he still envisions a future with Nancy at his side, but before she could respond, her boyfriend Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) reappeared. While Nancy and Jonathan make a great couple, could there still be hope for Steve to find love?

Imogen and Tabby (Pretty Little Liars: Summer School’)
Instead of speculating about the mysterious "A," our attention was drawn to the growing bond between Imogen (Bailee Madison) and Tabby (Chandler Kinney). From initially being hesitant roommates, they evolved into the best of friends, making it feel like the natural progression for their relationship to blossom into romance.

Jordan and Marie (‘Gen V’)
Jordan and Marie had a rough start when Jordan refused to let Marie join their crime-fighting class. Things got even worse when Marie took the credit for bringing down Golden Boy. However, they eventually bonded over their shared experiences with loss and rejection - and even woke up together in bed without clothes. Their genuine connection in the tough world of Gen V makes them a couple worth rooting for when season 2 comes out.

Margot and Isabella (‘Goosebumps’)
The first season of the spooky series successfully created a love square, with possible pairings including Margot (Isa Briones) and Lucas (Will Price), Margot and Isaiah (Zack Morris), and Isabella (Ana Yi Puig) and Isaiah. What if Goosebumps challenged the heterosexual norm and instead explored the relationship between Margot and Isabella without involving any guys? Both actors who portray Margot and Isabella have expressed their support for this idea, leaving the decision in Disney's hands.

Maddie and Wally (‘School Spirits)
Could a ghost and a half-ghost find love and make it work? It's unclear, but watching Wally (Milo Manheim) and Maddie (Peyton List) give it a try would be entertaining. Wally is from the '80s and Maddie’s body is technically still breathing, so a romance between these two would be quite the challenge, but it's something we're hoping to see. The pair has undeniable chemistry and they open up to each other in vulnerable ways. After everything they've been through, they definitely deserve a happy ending.

Gabi and Sir (‘Found’)
Alexa, please play the song "Criminal" by Britney Spears. At first glance, it may seem unlikely for Gabi (played by Shanola Hampton) and Sir (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar) to have any connection, considering Sir kidnapped Gabi when she was a child and Gabi is now keeping Sir locked up in her basement as an adult. However, Hampton and Gosselaar's onscreen chemistry is so compelling that it leaves us uncertain about the potential direction of Gabi and Sir's story from here on out.

Gregory and Janine (‘Abbott Elementary’)
Gregory (Tyler James Williams) finally revealed his long-standing feelings for Janine (Quinta Brunson) after two seasons at Abbott Elementary. Janine reciprocated the feelings but chose to prioritize her own needs for the time being. It's clear that these two are meant to be together, so now we just have to wait for them to align their priorities. If they were to kick off a romance at the start of season 3 in February 2024, that would be amazing.

Tori and Michael (‘Heartstopper’)
Since the announcement of Darragh Hand’s casting as Michael for season 3, Heartstopper fans have eagerly anticipated his onscreen chemistry with Jenny Walser’s character, Tori.

Georgia and Joe (‘Ginny and Georgia’)
Yes, we are fully aware that Georgia (Brianne Howey) recently tied the knot with Paul (Scott Porter) — and she ended season 2 in handcuffs. But after Joe’s (Raymond Ablack) heartfelt love confession, can you blame Us for still rooting for these two to have their chance? Paul is wonderful, but Georgia cherished Joe’s kind words for decades, and now that they’ve reconnected, it feels like they are meant to be together. Joe is also a positive influence on Ginny, a hardworking entrepreneur and potentially the perfect person to keep Georgia on the right path (and hopefully out of jail).

Pope and Cleo (‘Outer Banks’)
The season 3 finale teased a potential romance between Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant), however, the focus was primarily on Kiara (Madison Bailey) and JJ’s (Rudy Pankow) relationship. It’s time for Pope and Cleo to take center stage in their own storyline, and season 4 presents the perfect opportunity for that to finally unfold.

Buck and Eddie (‘9-1-1’)
Viewers have long hoped for Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) to move their strong friendship into a romantic relationship since season 2. Their connection was evident from the start, with Buck even stepping in as a father figure for Eddie's son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh). As both men struggle in heterosexual relationships, the transition of the show from Fox to ABC for season 6 has fans optimistic that this might pave the way for the two to explore a deeper connection.

Ben and Addison (‘Quantum Leap’)
Ben (Raymond Lee) and Addison (Caitlin Bassett) face numerous challenges, such as time travel obstacles and the emergence of new romantic partners. However, as long as the Quantum Leap team remains committed to retrieving Ben as he leaps through time, there remains a chance for Ben and Addison to rekindle their love story.

Kitty and Minho (‘XO, Kitty’)
Who can resist a juicy enemies-to-lovers tale? Despite starting off as adversaries, these two wrapped up season 1 with Minho (played by Sang Heon Lee) confessing his love to Kitty (portrayed by Anna Cathcart). Kitty certainly has her hands full with love interests — ex-boyfriend Dae (played by Choi Min-young), and crush Yuri (played by Gia Kim), among others — but Minho's readiness to support her, call her out on her shenanigans, and match her wit make them a couple to watch when the series makes its return in season 2.

Benson and Stabler (‘Law & Order: SVU’)
It's been over twenty years since the show first aired, and now is the perfect moment for NBC to take action on the undeniable chemistry between Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Christopher Meloni). Viewers have been waiting patiently for far too long — and then some.

Mabel and Theo (‘Only Murders in the Building’)
The characters of Theo (James Caverly) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) have sparked controversy due to Theo's involvement in the murder of Mabel's friend Zoe (Olivia Reis). Despite this, the two have developed a strong friendship throughout the series. Theo played a crucial role in helping Mabel solve the major mystery of season 3. Mabel also took the initiative to learn ASL in order to communicate more effectively with Theo, who is deaf. The two rely on each other during difficult times. While Mabel had a passionate romance with Tobert (Jesse Williams) in season 3, it remains to be seen if there could be something more between her and her downstairs neighbor.

Cal and Maggie (‘Sullivan's Crossing’)
The conclusion of season 1 didn't see Cal (Chad Michael Murray) and Maggie (Morgan Kohan) act on their feelings, but there's a chance for their paths to intersect once more as the Sullivan's Crossing cast is currently shooting the next season for The CW.

Mike and Will (‘Stranger Things’)
Imagine a Stranger Things universe where Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) are not together. Will’s (Noah Schnapp) subtle confession in the season 4 finale about having feelings for Mike has left us wondering if there’s a potential happily-ever-after for the childhood best friends.
