Anthony Anderson has aspirations of venturing into a fresh and exciting path in his career. "Having my own talk show would be a tremendous dream come true," shared the 52-year-old actor, best known for his role in Black-ish. During an exclusive interview with We, he revealed this ambition while promoting his latest E! reality series, Trippin' With Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris, in which he stars alongside his mother and co-star, Doris Hancox Bowman.
Anderson expressed his enthusiasm for engaging in conversations with fascinating individuals, discussing a wide range of topics encompassing both global and local issues. He emphasized his openness to addressing any subject matter without restrictions. Drawing a parallel with Johnny Carson's partnership with Ed McMahon, Anderson humorously mentioned that his mother, Mama Doris, would serve as his sidekick in this endeavor. Bowman, 69, wholeheartedly agreed with Anderson's sentiment.
The actor from Kangaroo Jack joked about the possibility of the program only lasting one season because of his mom's outspoken nature. In response, Bowman confidently stated that the talk show would run for a minimum of eight seasons and would be a tremendous success.
This isn't the first time the mother and son have worked together on a TV series. They recently embarked on a journey across England, France, and Italy for their upcoming reality show, set to premiere on Thursday, June 22nd at 10 p.m. ET on E!.

Anderson humorously described his time filming the project as "a hellish vacation with your own mother." Despite occasional clashes between the Iron Chef America judge and Bowman, they swiftly overcome their frustrations. Anderson further explained, "We may give each other the silent treatment for a while, but eventually, we return as if nothing happened. That's just how it goes."
The duo, who were extremely close, created numerous unforgettable moments during their extended getaway. Anderson emphasized that the memory that stands out the most for him is "my mother's captivating performance in a Parisian jazz club, captivating the audience."
Bowman reminisced about her experience at African Fashion Week, where she not only strutted down the runway but also uncovered her talent for skeet shooting. She proudly recounted her victory over Anthony, expressing the immense satisfaction that comes from surpassing one's own child.
The Illinois native aspired to pursue a career in show business before becoming a mother. In a March 2017 interview with Us, Anderson revealed that his mom had to set aside her dreams after becoming a teen mom. Now, he is making it up to her by expressing his gratitude for all her sacrifices. The Transformers actor shared with Us that Trippin' With, his latest project, aims to showcase a wonderful bond between a mother and son.
Bowman, on the other hand, had unwavering faith in her son's ability to thrive in the entertainment industry. "I had a feeling about it when he was just 18 months old," she shared. "Let me remind you all: I am his number one supporter."
Anderson is continuing his family legacy by showing his support for his 23-year-old son Nathan's pursuit of an acting career. Nathan is one of two children Anderson shares with his estranged wife Alvina Stewart, who filed for divorce in March 2022.
Anderson emphasized the importance of hard work and staying true to oneself, encouraging his son to take risks and not let rejection hinder his progress. His son's acting career includes a leading role in the 2023 Bounce series Act Your Age. Anderson expressed pride in his son's dedication to these principles. Tune in to E! on Thursday, June 22, at 10 p.m. ET for the premiere of Trippin' With Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris.
