Knezevich Henao, 40, was reported missing in February when she didn't show up to meet a friend in Madrid.

Juan Felipe Henao, her brother, shared with CNN that she was supposed to travel to Barcelona by train with a friend on February 5. Unfortunately, she did not arrive at the Madrid station as planned.

Sanna Rameau, a friend of Knezevich Henao, mentioned that the last time they communicated through messages was on February 2.

Rameau shared with CNN that she felt happy and emotional upon hearing about the arrest. "I'm hopeful that we will finally get some answers," she expressed.

She mentioned that around the time of the disappearance, Knezevich Henao sent her a WhatsApp message saying: "I have met someone amazing!! He owns a summer house about 2 hours away from Madrid. We are heading there now and I will be staying for a few days. Signal is weak. I'll give you a call once I'm back."

A man approached her on the street while she was walking, as mentioned in a text message seen by CNN. The message described an "amazing connection" that the man felt with her.

During the period when she went missing, the lens of two security cameras at the apartment building where Knezevich Henao was staying in Madrid's upscale Salamanca neighborhood were spray-painted, according to the building's superintendent who spoke to CNN.

The cameras that were disabled were located at the entrance of the building and near the elevator, according to the superintendent. It is not known if this incident is connected to her disappearance.

The building superintendent, along with two other individuals familiar with the situation, informed CNN that authorities had entered Knezevich Henao's apartment on February 12 with legal permission.

Her brother and Rameau communicated with Knezevich separately after she went missing. They were informed by Knezevich that he was in Serbia. Despite trying to contact him in February, CNN did not receive a response.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Knezevich Henao originally leased the apartment in Madrid from January 5 to February 5. Subsequently, she requested to prolong the rental period for an additional month, until March 5.

Spanish police were contacted by CNN, but they chose not to comment as they are currently conducting an investigation.

According to the website of EOX Technology Solutions, a computer services company in South Florida, David Knezevich is listed as the CEO and managing director. The website also mentions that David Knezevich is Serbian, and Knezevich Henao, a native of Colombia, serves as a project manager. CNN attempted to reach out to the company for further information, but was not able to connect with anyone immediately.

The US Embassy in Madrid had no comment on the case in February and cited privacy restrictions when asked by CNN.

CNN’s Pau Mosquera, Al Goodman and Carlos Suarez contributed to this report.
