AMC to Revive Captain Nemo Series After Disney Plus Cancellation

After undergoing a company-wide budget cut and canceling several shows, Disney+ has found a new home for one of them. Variety reports that Nautilus, a series based on the origin story of Captain Nemo and named after his extraordinary submarine, will now be airing on AMC Networks.
Originally scheduled to premiere on Disney+, the 10-episode show was announced to be not moving forward in August. Drawing inspiration from Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," Nautilus will delve into the early life of Captain Nemo, portrayed by Shazad Latif (known for his role in Star Trek: Discovery). The character is described as "an Indian Prince deprived of his rightful heritage and family, held captive by the East India Mercantile Company, and driven by vengeance against the forces that have deprived him of everything." Whether or not the series will tie into Disney's classic rendition of the Verne story remains uncertain.

In addition to Latif, the talented cast of the show includes Georgia Flood, Thierry Fremont, and Céline Menville, with special appearances by Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor. Notably, the finished adaptation of Spiderwick Chronicles with Christian Slater has also been removed from Disney's schedule and is currently seeking a new broadcast opportunity.

I am thrilled to hear that AMC is reviving the Captain Nemo series after Disney Plus canceled it. I was very disappointed when I heard that Disney Plus was canceling the show, as I was really looking forward to seeing it.
I am confident that AMC will do a great job with the series and I am excited to see what they do with it. I am also glad that the show will be available on AMC+, as I am a subscriber to that service. I think that this is a great opportunity for AMC to bring in new viewers and I am sure that the show will be a hit.
