In recent years, Amber Heard's personal life has been at the forefront, following her involvement in the high-profile legal case against Johnny Depp.

Yes, Amber heard is (still) in Aquaman 2.

However, her appearance hasn’t been without its controversies. In early trailers for the film, Heard’s character Mera didn’t feature at all.
During an interview with EW in September 2023, Aquaman 2 director James Wan disclosed that Mera's role in The Lost Kingdom would be scaled back compared to the first movie. He also emphasized that the sequel was intended to focus on the relationship between Aquaman and Orm.
"I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first Aquaman was Arthur and Mera’s journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm,” Wan said. “So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie. We’ll leave it at that.”
The executive producer of Aquaman 2, Walter Hamada, confirmed that Amber Heard's role was never diminished in the film, but he did acknowledge the reported chemistry problems between Heard and Momoa. Hamada also stated in a video deposition that Heard was not released from her contract or given a pay increase for Aquaman 2.
After wrapping the first movie production, there were concerns about the chemistry between the two actors," Hamada said. "Although the editorial team was able to make their relationship work in the first movie, there was worry that it required a lot of effort to achieve. It was suggested that recasting should be considered to find someone with more natural chemistry with Jason Momoa."
There are rumors among fans that Emilia Clarke will be replacing Amber Heard as Mera, but the footage is actually deepfaked. It is uncertain how much screen time Amber Heard will have, but she will certainly appear in Aquaman 2.

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I have mixed feelings about Amber Heard's presence in Aquaman 2. On the one hand, I understand that she is a talented actress and that her personal life should not affect her professional career. On the other hand, I also understand the concerns of fans who feel that her involvement in the film may overshadow the story and detract from the overall experience.
I believe that it is important to separate an actor's personal life from their professional work. Amber Heard's legal issues with Johnny Depp should not be a factor in determining whether or not she should be cast in a movie. However, I also understand that the controversy surrounding her may make it difficult for some fans to enjoy the film. Ultimately, I think it is up to each individual fan to decide whether or not they want to see Aquaman 2 with Amber Heard in it.
