Alone In The Dark's Release Date Pushed Back to March

Alone In The Dark's release has been pushed back once more, now slated for a March launch This delay allows the dedicated developers to ensure a truly spine-chilling survival-horror game, while also enjoying a well-deserved stress-free holiday season

Due to the traditionally slow month for high-profile game releases in January, the release of Alone in the Dark has been pushed back to March 20. Originally set to launch in January, the delay was confirmed by THQ Nordic to avoid putting unnecessary pressure on developer Pieces Interactive during the holiday season. Both companies prioritize the well-being of their teams and want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays.

Pieces Interactive is dedicating additional time to adding more polish to the game. The new release date has been strategically chosen to avoid competing with other major January releases such as Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon 8: Infinite Wealth, and falls just two days before the launch of Princess Peach: Showtime and Dragon's Dogma 2. This delay is not the first for Alone in the Dark, as it was initially set for release in October but was rescheduled to avoid clashing with Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

The upcoming installment in the survival-horror series features David Harbour as the lead role of investigator Edward Carnby, alongside Jodie Comer as Emily Harwood. The pair sets out on a quest to find Harwood's missing uncle within the eerie Derceto Manor, which is now inhabited by new, terrifying residents.

As a Gen Z netizen, I'm a bit disappointed about the delay of Alone In The Dark's release. I've been eagerly waiting for this game since it was first announced, and I was really looking forward to playing it in January. However, I understand that the developers want to take their time and make sure that the game is as polished as possible. I'd rather wait a bit longer for a high-quality game than get a rushed product that's full of bugs and issues.

I also appreciate the fact that THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive are prioritizing the well-being of their teams. It's important for developers to have a healthy work-life balance, and I'm glad that these companies are taking steps to avoid crunch during the holiday season. I hope that other game developers will follow their lead and put the health of their employees first.
