All About Vincenzo Season 2

All About Vincenzo Season 2

A detailed look at the possibilities and expectations for the continuation of the popular South Korean TV series, Vincenzo.

The Hopes for Vincenzo Season 2

Vincenzo season 2 would see the continuation of the popular South Korean TV series. In Vincenzo, a South Korean child, Park Joo-hyung (Song Joong-ki), is adopted by an Italian family who all die tragically in an accident. Thus, Joo-hyung joins the criminal Cassano Family headed by Don Fabio, changes his name to Vincenzo Cassano, and becomes a legitimate lawyer and a powerful consigliere to the family to aid in their criminal dealings. Season 1 pits Vincenzo against the Babel Group, a dangerous pharmaceutical enterprise, and he must use his knowledge of the law and experience as a criminal to defeat the organization. The series appeared on Netflix in 2021 after first appearing on South Korean TV in February 2021. Vincenzo is a fresh Netflix K-drama, combining dark comedy and criminal enterprises for a uniquely thrilling and funny series that was one of the most-watched Korean TV shows on Netflix in 2021 (via Forbes). While the first season of Vincenzo features a self-contained story with a definitive ending, there could still very well be more to tell in future seasons.

At this time, Vincenzo season 2 has not been confirmed. However, some hopeful news came out of the November 2022 Golden Horse Film Master Class held in Taiwan. Vincenzo screenwriter Park Jae-bum apparently said in a Q&A session that he would like to return to the series and would appreciate the chance to work with Vincenzo star Song Joong-Ki again if given the chance (via SportsKeeda). This is not definitive, of course, but it does hint that there is some interest in a second season of the show.

With Vincenzo season 2 not confirmed, it's unclear as to who would be in the hypothetical cast. However, soon after the Vincenzo finale, Song Joong-Ki spoke about his feelings on season 2 of the series: 'Nothing has been said about season 2.... but realistically speaking, its not coming out, and I don’t think there was ever any season 2 discussion going on internally.' (via Jazmine Media) That sounds like a definitive statement from the star of the series. On the other hand, Kwak Dong-yeon, who co-stars as Jang Han-seo, says about Vincenzo season 2, 'I think a second season would be a dream come true. I hope that it really happens. All the other actors want it to happen as well.' (via Devdiscourse) If Dong-yeon is correct, then many cast members would be willing to return for season 2. Though Jang Han-seo tragically dies in the K-drama, Dong-yeon suggested he could play another character or an apparition in a new season. Some other important characters to survive the first season who could possibly return for season 2 include Hong Cha-young (Jeon Yeo-been), Lee Chul-wook (Yang Kyung-won), Cho Young-woon (Choi Young-joon), and Ahn Gi-seok (Im Chul-soo).

The Possibilities for Vincenzo Season 2

Vincenzo season 1 ends with Vincenzo having defeated the Babel Group as well as its leader, Jang Jun-woo (Ok Taec-yeon). There is one small hanging thread in that the gold Vincenzo was seeking is still with Cha-young while he remains in Malta. The ending monologue of the series has Vincenzo saying how there's still evil in the world, and he will need to be ruthless as well as just to stop it. The next season could find Vincenzo seeking his gold, or it could be another stand-alone story that finds Vincenzo up against some corrupt system.
