The shocking truth behind the Sith's origin and their mysterious symbols revealed in Ahsoka Episode 7 Uncover the ancient connection to the legendary Nightsisters and the pivotal role of Peridea in the eternal cycle of light and dark

This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 7.

Summary

In Ahsoka episode 7, it is unveiled that a Zeffo named Kujet governed the distant planet Peridea, tracing the origin of the Nightsisters of Dathomir back to this planet. Unlike the Sith who directly harness the Force, the Nightsisters employ dark magick in a distinctive manner, accessing the dark side indirectly and collaborating among themselves.

The Sith's symbols and designs, including the red triangle, may have been influenced by the ancient civilization of Peridea, suggesting a potential link between the Sith and the Nightsisters.

In Ahsoka, a subtle clue sheds light on the ancient Sith's past and the origins of some of their powerful symbols associated with the dark side. Ahsoka's revision of Star Wars galaxy's history reveals that it was once a part of a vast intergalactic civilization that had its roots deeply tied to the dark side of the Force. Surprisingly, the Nightsisters of Dathomir trace their origins back to Peridea, a distant planet in another galaxy, and they were governed by a Zeffo named Kujet.

The ancient history of the Star Wars galaxy has always been shrouded in mystery, leaving many unanswered questions about the origins of the Jedi and Sith. Even further back, there are revelations that raise more inquiries about what led to the collapse of this intergalactic civilization. While the cause of this collapse remains unknown, Ahsoka is reintroducing some of these ancient powers. Collaborating with Thrawn, the Great Mothers of Peridea are tapping into dark magick from the same origins. A subtle hint in Ahsoka episode 7 suggests that their influence on the galaxies endures.

The Great Mothers' Red Triangle Is Surprising Sith Iconography

Nightsister magick differs from Sith use of the Force, as they indirectly tap into the dark side without being consumed by its power. Unlike the Sith, they cooperate and synergize their abilities instead of competing against each other. In Ahsoka episode 7, the Great Mothers exemplify this through their use of a tracking spell, where the Force forms a red triangle around them. Interestingly, the three Nightsisters draw inspiration from the Greek fates and the witches from Macbeth, with their names reflecting this influence. This suggests that working together in groups of three is optimal for the Great Mothers, resulting in common triangle effects among the Nightsisters and leaving behind a symbolic legacy.

The Sith Symbols Could Be Drawn From Legends Of The Nightsisters

The association of triangles and pyramidal shapes with the dark side of the Force has always been prominent. The Sith, known for their symbol of a red triangle, even utilized pyramids in their architectural structures. This juxtaposition is peculiar considering the Sith's focus on the number two, as their Rule of Two dictates that there should only be two Sith at a time. This belief is a distorted version of the Doctrine of the Dyad, which also emphasizes the significance of two. However, in episode 7 of Ahsoka, a possible explanation for this philosophical inconsistency emerges.

Ahsoka reveals that the Sith incorporated elements from an ancient dark side civilization into their own culture and philosophy. The Sith language, ur-Kittât, also referred to as the Old Tongue, is now confirmed to have originated from the Zeffo and the Nightsisters of Peridea. It is plausible that other Sith beliefs and practices were also influenced by these civilizations, potentially explaining the conflicting nature of their teachings connected to the dark side.

Peridea Really Is Where The Cycle Of Light & Dark Began

Baylan Skoll has his own motives for coming to Peridea. He believes that this is where the eternal conflict between the light and dark sides of the Force originated, even predating the establishment of the Jedi Order 25,000 years ago. The triangular symbols used by the Great Mothers, which are seen in the architecture of Peridea, support his theory. The Nightsisters, an ancient faction aligned with the dark side, once held great power and were eventually overthrown by the light side, but their influence still lingers.

The remnants of the dark side, left behind after the downfall of this vast intergalactic empire, have had a corruptive influence across the galaxies. In the main Star Wars galaxy, the Sith adopted the language and imagery of Peridea, incorporating them into their own beliefs, along with teachings from other dark side cults. It is plausible that the origins of the Sith can be traced back to this source; perhaps, 5,000 years prior to the Skywalker saga, the Jedi delved into the study of ur-Kittât, a powerful force in the dark side, and succumbed to its corruption. ur-Kittât has a compelling allure for those who harbor darkness within them.

What is uncertain is what Baylan believes he can accomplish now that he has arrived on Peridea. The dark Jedi is convinced that there is a way to break the cycle that has consumed galaxies and civilizations for longer than recorded history in the Star Wars galaxy. However, without knowing what is calling to him, it is impossible to determine how he believes this can be achieved. Nevertheless, there is an intriguing resemblance between the beckoning that Baylan is sensing and the influence that ur-Kittât has on those who are most susceptible to it. It truly feels as though all of Ahsoka's ancient clues are converging, potentially leading to the rise of a threat that predates even the Jedi and the Sith, from the earliest era of time.

New episodes of Ahsoka are released on Disney+ every Tuesday at 6 pm PT / 9 pm ET.
