Angie Harmon experienced a heartbreaking Easter weekend when a deliveryman shot and killed her dog. In a post on Instagram on Monday, April 1, the 51-year-old actress shared the tragic incident. She mentioned that the man, who was delivering groceries for Instacart, shot their beloved dog Oliver after delivering the food. Harmon also revealed that the deliveryman noticed their ring camera was not recording, which may have influenced his actions. Despite the lack of evidence of any harm done to the deliveryman, he was released by the police after claiming self-defense.
Harmon then went on to share that the deliveryman had used the name "Merle" as a disguise while shopping, and later posted a photo of the man on her Story.
She recounted the horrifying experience of the deliveryman shooting their dog while she and her daughters were at home, callously admitting to the act. The family is now dealing with the trauma and devastation of losing their beloved pet and family member.
“#RIP OLLIE ️,” Harmon concluded her post.
Several of the actress’ famous friends showed their support in her comment section.

Allison Janney expressed her shock and disbelief, saying, "Oh my god, I’m horrified and beyond disbelief…I can’t even begin to imagine. Stunned." Paulina Porizkov also shared her disbelief, commenting, "This is UNBELIEVABLE! I don’t even know how to react to this."
Later, Harmon posted a message on her Instagram Story directed towards the person responsible for the death of her beloved dog.
I'm deeply hurt by your despicable and inexcusable actions. You not only took away a beloved family member but also caused us immense trauma. It's heartbreaking to think that someone could do something so heartless, and I regret not being able to say goodbye.
Instacart stated to USA Today that they are working with Harmon and assisting law enforcement in the investigation.
Instacart expressed their sadness and concern about the incident to the outlet on Monday. They stated that they do not tolerate any form of violence, and the shopper's account was promptly suspended from their platform.
Harmon had previously shared about her dog Oliver, a German shepherd/beagle mix, who played a role in feeding a squirrel named Thomas that she had rescued in November 2023.
“When I would oversleep when Thomas was an ‘infant,’ Oliver would bark at me to wake up to go feed him,” the actress told People at the time.
Editor's P/S:
The tragic incident of Angie Harmon's dog being shot and killed by an Instacart deliveryman has left me shocked and deeply saddened. It is incomprehensible that a person delivering groceries could take the life of a beloved family pet. The fact that the man was aware of the non-functional ring camera and used a false name adds another layer of callousness to his actions. The emotional trauma and devastation experienced by Harmon and her family is immeasurable.
Instacart's prompt suspension of the shopper's account and their cooperation with the investigation are positive steps. However, it is crucial that the authorities conduct a thorough investigation and hold the individual accountable for his actions. The lack of evidence of any threat to the deliveryman's safety raises questions about his claim of self-defense. It is essential to ensure that justice is served and that such heinous acts do not go unpunished.
