A Glimpse into Charles Melton's Romantic Chronicles: From Camila Mendes to Chase Sui Wonders

It didn’t take long for Charles Melton’s love life to make headlines as he made a name for himself on Riverdale.

Melton discovered love with his co-star and on-screen love interest Camila Mendes on the set of The CW show. They made their romance public in 2018, and Mendes explained her decision not to hide their relationship, saying, "I'm not a private person. I don't like hiding." She added that with time, she has been reevaluating what she wants to share and what she wants to keep private.

In the same month, Melton revealed to We that he expressed his love for Mendes by writing her letters. He acknowledged that it may not be the most romantic gesture, but believed that it's the simple things that count the most. Despite their close bond both on and off screen, Melton and Mendes ended their relationship by the end of the year. Although they briefly got back together, they ultimately separated for good in 2022. The pair continued to work together on the show, with their characters dating on and off until the series concluded in 2023.

As Melton's career skyrocketed, he chose to keep his subsequent relationships more private. He gained critical acclaim for his role alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in the film May December. Following its release on Netflix in December 2023, Melton quickly became a top contender for several major awards.

Reflecting on his experience filming May December in Georgia, Melton expressed, "Those 23 days were the highlight of my acting career. I'm incredibly grateful and focused on staying grounded and taking each day as it comes." This was during his speech at the Critics Choice Association's Celebration of Cinema and Television in December 2023.

Melton and Mendes went public with their relationship on Instagram in 2018 after meeting on the set of Riverdale. However, their relationship ended a year later and Mendes began dating Grayson Vaughan from February 2020 to March 2021. After breaking up with Vaughan, there were rumors of a reconciliation between Melton and Mendes, but they ultimately decided to part ways again in early 2022.

In April 2022, Melton was seen enjoying a casual outing with Wonders in New York City. The two had collaborated on Wonders' short film Wake earlier that year, with Melton in the starring role. Two months after their initial public appearance together, Melton posted a photo on Instagram of himself and Wonders at a basketball game.

Melton and Wonders ultimately quietly called it quits. After their breakup, Wonders was in a high-profile romance with Pete Davidson before moving on with Joe Keery.
