Kody Brown and his ex-wife Christine Brown have a large family, consisting of six children and three grandchildren. Kody and Christine entered into a spiritual union in 1994, while Kody was legally married to his first wife Meri Brown and spiritually married to Janelle Brown. After Christine joined the polygamist family, they started expanding their own family. However, Kody and Christine announced their split in November 2021. Their children include daughters Aspyn (born March 1995), Mykelti (born June 1996), Gwendlyn (born October 2001), Ysabel (born March 2003), Truely (born April 2010), and son Paedon (born August 1998).
Shortly after discovering she was pregnant with her youngest daughter Truely, the Utah native found out that Kody was courting Robyn Brown. In 2014, Kody divorced Meri in order to legally marry Robyn and adopt her three children from a previous relationship. Despite these changes, Kody remained spiritually married to Christine, Meri, and Janelle until their respective splits in November 2021 and December 2022. (Meri and Janelle separated from Kody after season 17 of Sister Wives aired.)
The star of "Cooking With Just Christine" was the first of Kody's exes to announce her separation, as she moved from the group's residence in Flagstaff, Arizona, back to her hometown in Utah with Truely.
"I am relishing in my newfound independence, realizing that I am capable of thriving on my own," Christine disclosed exclusively to We in October 2022. "I am thoroughly enjoying the routines Truely and I have established in our household, along with the freedom to pursue my own desires. It's incredible how life can be so uncomplicated and effortless. I am truly embracing the simplicity of it all."
She further expressed, "When I made the decision to leave, I took a long-term perspective on the next decade of my life. I refused to repeat the patterns of the previous ten years. From that moment forward, I resolved to focus solely on moving ahead, without dwelling on the past or looking too far into the future. I have chosen not to harbor any regrets and to fully embrace the person I have become today, shaped by the experiences and relationships of my past."
The salesman has expressed his displeasure with Christine's decision to relocate with Truely. Throughout Season 17 of Sister Wives in 2022, Kody claimed he felt betrayed by his ex-wife's desire to separate.
"In all honesty, I sometimes struggle to understand the rush behind it," the TLC patriarch revealed in an October episode, reflecting on Christine's seemingly quick move. "It feels like a hostile act towards me. I feel like she's backstabbing me because she could have addressed our relationship concerns a long time ago. Instead, she dropped this bomb on me...and it feels like she's been eager to leave since she first mentioned it."
