His co-stars in the movie, such as Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss and Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, also received nominations in the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories. Blunt, at 41 years old, lost to Da’Vine Joy Randolph for The Holdovers, while 58-year-old Downey Jr. emerged victorious in his category.
Oppenheimer's director, Christopher Nolan, was the winner in the Best Director category. He also won Best Picture as a producer on the film and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film received recognition in various other categories such as Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing. Oppenheimer took home the awards for Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.
Poor Things came in a close second with a total of 11 nominations. Emma Stone was nominated for Best Actress, while Mark Ruffalo received a nod in the Best Supporting Actor category.
Killers of the Flower Moon received 10 nominations, leading the pack. Barbie followed with eight nominations, while Maestro earned seven. American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, and The Zone of Interest each received five nominations before the awards ceremony.
