How to Switch Careers in The Sims 4

There comes a time in everyone's life when they become tired of the monotonous daily routine and desire a break from their busy work schedules. Just like real people, Sims in The Sims 4 also feel the need for change in their virtual lives. Whether it's to pursue their passions, dedicate more time to hobbies, or simply because they're overwhelmed, Sims may want to quit their jobs.

Quitting a job in The Sims 4 can open up a world of possibilities for Sims, but it also comes with consequences. Once a Sim decides to leave their job, they will no longer have a steady income to support their household, and their relationships with coworkers may be affected, depending on the career. Additionally, quitting a job means that the Sim will no longer receive work-related tasks or events. However, on a positive note, Sims will have the opportunity to switch careers, focus on achieving their aspirations, or build a virtual family.

How a Sim Can Quit Their Job

Work takes a toll on Sims and makes them unsatisfied with their virtual lives, just like humans. Here’s how players can make their Sims quit a job.

Open the Sim’s Phone.

Click on the “Careers/Household” option, denoted by a little briefcase.

If a Sim is already in a career, the option to “Quit Job” will be available.

Click on it and when prompted to confirm, click “OK.”

Alternatively, if the Sim has a computer in their household, they can find the Quit Job option under Careers by clicking on the Computer.

To easily quit a job for a Sim using cheats, the player can follow these steps:

1. Access the cheat console by pressing "Ctrl+Shift+C" or a similar key combination depending on the player's device.

Enable cheats using “testingcheats true.”

Enter the cheat “remove_career [CareerName].

Pressing the Enter key will prompt the Sim to resign from their current job. Players who wish to quit their job without sacrificing their income can employ a cheat code to retire the Sim while still obtaining a weekly pension. To do this, enter the following command: "retire [CareerName]."

How to Switch Careers in The Sims 4

There’s a chance that most players don’t want their Sim to quit a job – but rather switch their careers. To start a new career:

Go to Phone, and navigate to the Careers section.

Click on “Find A Job.”

Select a suitable career for the Sim.

When prompted to Switch careers, Click “OK”.
