2024 People's Choice Awards: Host, Nominees, and More Revealed

Another year, another chance for fans to vote for their favorite movies, TV shows and celebrities at the People’s Choice Awards.

Simu Liu, nominated for The Movie Performance of the Year for his role in Barbie, is set to host the 2024 awards ceremony on Sunday, February 18. "I am grateful for the opportunity to host the 2024 People's Choice Awards," said 34-year-old Liu in a statement on Thursday, January 11, according to NBC News. "It's an exciting opportunity to celebrate this amazing year in pop culture with the fans who make our work possible."

Liu and Barbie were the top nominees, receiving eight nods each, with Oppenheimer close behind with six. Only Murders in the Building led TV show nominations with seven, followed by Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and The Last of Us with six nominations each. Taylor Swift earned five nods for her music and The Eras Tour concert film.

The 2024 People’s Choice Awards will air live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, on NBC, Peacock and E! Sunday, February 18, at 8 p.m. ET.

Who Is Hosting the 2024 People’s Choice Awards?

Liu’s hosting of the 2024 People’s Choice Awards will not be his first, having formerly hosted Character Media’s Unforgettable Gala in December 2023. Jen Neal, executive vice president of live events and specials at NBCUniversal, expressed excitement about Liu hosting the awards, stating that his charm and connection to fans perfectly embody the spirit of the show.

Liu has previously won a People’s Choice Award, securing the title of Favorite Action Movie Star in 2021 for his standout performance in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Additionally, he received a nomination for Favorite Male Movie Star in 2021, although the award ultimately went to Dwayne Johnson for Jungle Cruise.

What Movies Are Nominated at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards?

Nominated for The Movie of the Year are Fast X, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR FILM, The Little Mermaid, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, alongside Barbie and Oppenheimer.

Additional films like John Wick: Chapter 4 and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes were nominated for The Action Movie of the Year, while Anyone but You and No Hard Feelings secured spots in The Comedy Movie of the Year. Horror films like Scream VI, M3GAN, and Five Nights at Freddy’s also received recognition in The Drama Movie of the Year category.

Other movie-related categories available for voting include The Male/Female Movie Star of the Year, The Action Movie Star of the Year, The Comedy Movie Star of the Year, The Drama Movie Star of the Year, and The Movie Performance of the Year. What TV Shows Are Nominated at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards?

Nominated for The Show of the Year title this year are popular TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Saturday Night Live, The Bear, and Vanderpump Rules. Also in the running are Only Murders in the Building, Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and The Last of Us.

Only Murders in the Building has received a total of seven nominations, including acting nods for Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Meryl Streep. The show has also been nominated for The Comedy Show of the Year.

Tied with Luke Combs, Nicki Minaj, and Morgan Wallen, Swift is one of the most-nominated music artists with five nods each. The 2024 ceremony will also feature new music categories, including the Male/Female Country Artist of the Year and Male/Female Latin Artist of the Year, in addition to traditional awards such as Male/Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.

Other categories at the event will include Group/Duo of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, and Concert Tour of the Year.
