The Fuji TV's two-part crossover special, combining Toriko, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece, is now available to watch in English. CartoonBase, an animation news hub, recently posted about this special, which can be streamed on Hulu. Originally released in Japan in April 2013, the special brought together Goku, Monkey D. Luffy, and Toriko to celebrate Toriko's third year on air. While Adult Swim aired the English-dubbed version of Part 2 in March 2023, licensing issues prevented Part 1 from being dubbed into English. Now, English-speaking viewers can finally watch the entire special.
Part 1 of the special episode, titled "Run Strongest Team! - Toriko, Luffy and Goku," originally aired as Episode 99 of the anime series Toriko. Part 2, titled "History's Strongest Collaboration vs. Glutton of the Sea," aired as Episode 590 of the anime series One Piece. Toriko follows the adventures of the main character, a "Gourmet Hunter," as he travels the world in search of the most delicious foods. Like Goku and Luffy, Toriko possesses incredible strength, allowing him to defeat dangerous creatures in his quest to create the ultimate meal. He also shares their enormous appetite, capable of consuming vast amounts of food in one sitting.
The special episode's story revolves around the IGO Tournament, a renowned competition that Goku, Luffy, and Toriko participate in to win the legendary and highly coveted "Carat" meat, one of the rarest delicacies in the world. Throughout the tournament, the three heroes eventually team up to face a formidable creature known as Akami, also referred to as the "Deep Sea Glutton." The episodes also feature appearances from various beloved characters, including Mr. Satan, Sanji, Nami, Zoro, Komatsu, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Android 18, and Master Roshi, among others.
Toei Animation concluded the Toriko series adaptation in March 2014, leaving fans uncertain about any future anime installments. However, there is excitement for Dragon Ball Daima, a spin-off series where Goku and his friends embark on a new journey as child versions of themselves. This series is part of a larger celebration honoring the 40 years since the acclaimed Dragon Ball manga's launch in 1984 by Akira Toriyama. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of One Piece, Toei Animation has also created a brand-new logo for the beloved anime series. Fans can stream Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Toriko on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
