Tamriel, a vast continent, has numerous provinces and landscapes that cannot be fully depicted in a few games. The Elder Scrolls series has released five main games, aiming to explore as much of Tamriel as possible. However, there remains a significant amount of territory that requires more comprehensive coverage.
Although the initial two games, Arena and Daggerfall, included all the provinces within the Empire, technological advancements since their release in the mid-1990s have made them inaccessible to many players. Additionally, The Elder Scrolls Online offers a comprehensive depiction of Tamriel, but is considered a multiplayer spinoff rather than a main game in The Elder Scrolls series.
Tamriel Provinces Missing From Elder Scrolls Games
High Rock
Hammerfell
Valenwood
Summerset Isles
Elsweyr
Black Marsh
High Rock, located between Skyrim and Hammerfell, serves as the homeland for the Breton and Orsimer people. The renowned cities of Daggerfall and Wayrest can be found along the southern coast of the Iliac Bay. Throughout history, High Rock has been marked by the presence of numerous rival kingdoms, although these factions have gradually reduced to just five. The Bretons predominantly inhabit the southern part of the province, while the Orsimer reside in the northern mountains.
Hammerfell, home to the Redguards, occupies a substantial area within Tamriel. While it no longer carries the status of a province, this change was brought about by its rejection of the White-Gold Concordat. The Empire, complying with the Aldmeri Dominion's demand, relinquished control of southern Hammerfell to the Dominion. Hammerfell is renowned for the vast Alik'r Desert, the largest desert in Tamriel. Additionally, the landscape of this nation encompasses a wide range of environments including jungles, mountains, and plains.
New Cultures and Religions to Be Introduced in The Elder Scrolls 6
The Redguards of Hammerfell originate from Yokuda, a continent, and follow a religion that differs from the widely practiced religion of the Eight Divines in Tamriel. There are speculations that The Elder Scrolls 6 could be set in Hammerfell.
Valenwood is located in the southwestern region of Tamriel, bordered by Elsweyr and Cyrodiil. It serves as the homeland of the Bosmer and is a territory of the Aldmeri Dominion. In line with the name "Wood Elves" in The Elder Scrolls, Valenwood boasts dense tropical forests, resulting in few accessible roads and large unexplored areas. Historically, Valenwood became a part of the Aldmeri Dominion during their original campaigns in the Second Era.
The Summerset Isles, home to the Altmer, form the second group and leadership of the Aldmeri Dominion. Situated as an archipelago off the coast of Tamriel, the Summerset Isles boast a pleasant and temperate climate, unlike Valenwood. However, the Altmer are known for their lack of cultural tolerance towards outsiders and their reputation for arrogance.
In addition to the Altmer, Elsweyr also belongs to the Aldmeri Dominion, but its population consists of the Khajiit rather than elves. Elsweyr shares borders with Valenwood, Cyrodiil, and Black Marsh, featuring barren lands in the north and fertile regions in the south. The Khajiit of Elsweyr embrace a cultural connection with the moon, revering moon sugar as a vital substance, which is incorporated into their daily diet.
Black Marsh, the dwelling place of the Argonians, is a peculiar land characterized by marshes and enigmatic tree-like beings known as the Hist. Following the Oblivion Crisis, Black Marsh took the lead and became the initial Province to break away from the Empire. In close proximity to Morrowind, Black Marsh has had a troubled past, marked by continuous raids by the Dunmer who sought slaves. However, this practice came to an end in the Third Era when the Argonians retaliated by invading Morrowind and almost triumphing over the entire Province.
Currently, The Elder Scrolls 6 is undergoing development.
